At our office, we typically use two types of local anesthetic: lidocaine and septocaine (articaine). These medicines are commonly used in pediatric dentistry and are carefully selected based on your child’s age, medical history, and the type of procedure being done. Both options are designed to keep your child comfortable by numbing the area being treated while they remain awake and able to speak, breathe, and swallow normally.
For children with more complex medical conditions or when epinephrine is not recommended, we may use mepivacaine as an alternative local anesthetic.
