Children should visit the dentist by their first birthday, and we follow that guideline closely. The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that a “dental home” be established within six months of the first tooth erupting and no later than age one, so that preventive care and guidance start early.
We care for children from birth through age 21, as well as adults of all ages with special health care needs. We recommend scheduling your child’s first visit around age one. At your child’s first dental visit, we perform a gentle oral exam, review feeding and home‑care recommendations, and talk about growth, development, and cavity prevention in line with AAPD age‑one‑visit guidance. Most children are then seen every six months so we can monitor development, reinforce good habits, and catch any concerns early.
